Link Spam be Gone! How to Get Rid of Link Spam for Good with Bad Behavior

Tired of Link Spam?
I finally decided to try some new apps besides Akismet for link spam. Just today I got over 37 link spams on one post from the same IP address. I could have blocked the IP in the blacklist but I decided to try something different.

Bad Behavior
This is a program that kills link spam dead. I have installed it on other sites of mine and have loved the results. Now I am rolling it out to all my sites. The great thing is I can still have Akismet with Bad Behavior. The best of both worlds.

Installing and configuring
Bad Behavior is very easy to install. Just upload it to the plugins directory and activate it. That is it. It does all the rest for you. On one of my sites I say the link spam go to zero instantly. This is a must have plugin. I going to add it to my list of WordPress on AutoPilot Must have Plugins!

Using WordPress as Forum Software

WordPress as a Forum
I was looking around the web and noticed most forum software does not index well with the search engines.  Then I started thinking that WordPress does SEO (search engine optimization) great and will ping many different services.  This makes WordPress great for spiders.

So I started searching the web for people who had built WordPress into a forum.  And sure enough I came across this posting.  The Dead One has do all the work and shared his results.  Thanks Dead One!

It was exactly what I was looking for.  WordPress hacked into a forum with a custom theme.

I’m installing it today on a couple of sites to test out and modify.  Has anyone else built something like this?  Post us your thoughts.
