WordPress is the perfect spider bate!  The problem is they Spiders show up as soon as you install finish the install.  The first thing you want to do is turn on Privacy and block the Spiders (Settings, Privacy, check “I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors”).

Next wait until you have 5-12 posts before you change the privacy settings.

Plugins for Google Indexing

I always use Wordpress for my self-hosted blogs and there’s some great plug-ins which will do lots of leg-work for you if you do the same.

2 plug-ins which no self respecting blogster should be without are ‘Dagon Design sitemap generator’ and ‘XML sitemaps’.

After you have the plugins installed then follow along with setting up Feedburner.  Don’t forget to register your site with Google so you can put your site map.  Using these tools I have sites indexed in as little as 20 minutes.  I know, I couldn’t believe it!
